PVC manufacturers make PVC schedule 80 pipe in two different types: plain end and bell end. Plain end pipe has a normal style end that is made to slide inside of socket fittings. Bell end pipe is commonly used when installing long straight runs of pipe, because in essence a coupling is built into the pipe. The belled end acts as a coupling and accepts regular end pipe so that pipes can be solvent cemented together without the need for extra fittings. This is a money and time saver for many applications.

We offer Sch 80 PVC pipe in 1/4″ through 24″ sizes. The pressure ratings of PVC pipe always varies by size. Small pipe has a thicker wall compared to inside diameter, so it always has a higher pressure rating (PSI) than larger pipe sizes. PVC pipe is able to handle uses that range in temperature from 32°F – 140°F (0°C – 60°C). This max operating temperature limits some applications.

PVC pipe and fittings are joined together using solvent weld or NPT threaded connections. Schedule 80 PVC pipe works best with Sch 80 PVC fittings and compatible valves, etc. You can usually recognize Sch 80 pipe by its dark gray color and rather thick wall (in comparison to other pipes).
